JD Logistics (also known as JINGDONG Logistics) announced today at CeMAT ASIA 2024 its latest Goods-to-Person (GTP) automated warehousing innovation, the “Zhilang” solution. Meaning “Intelligent Wolf”, Zhilang is a proprietary system that improves picking efficiency by over three times compared to traditional methods. This advanced system is already supporting operations during the Singles Day Grand Promotion.
The Zhilang GTP solution combines several technologies, including handling AGVs, lifting robots, and shelving systems, along with automated inbound and picking workstations and an empty tote reflow line. Leveraging warehouse height, Zhilang increases storage density to 2.5 times the industry average for facilities up to 10 meters high.
The system’s modular design enables handling AGVs and lifting robots to operate independently. Powered by JD Logistics’ self-developed “upper tote storage and lower picking scenarios” algorithm and “buffer storage” technology, the network is fully flexible for optimized routing. The high-precision navigation algorithm, dual-direction laser obstacle detection technology, and vision-based verification ensure precise retrieval with minimal error. Additionally, Zhilang’s payback period is 30% shorter than comparable solutions.
Currently, nearly 100 Zhilang AGVs and lifting robots are in operation at an intelligent logistics park in Beijing, handling nearly a million items, from tops to shoes. With a click, pickers receive requested items directly from the robots, enabling a seamless, automated order fulfillment process from inbound to outbound.
JD Logistics continues to advance logistics operations with a wide array of solutions, including the the Tianlang Tote Shuttle GTP system, Dilang AGV GTP system, Four-way Pallet Shuttle Storage system, Auto Remin Wall, and the Aidong mobile data terminal. In terms of software, JD Logistics’ WCS (warehouse control system), WES (warehouse execution system), RMS (robotics management system), 3D SCADA (3D supervisory control and data acquisition), and Lomir intelligent logistics park management platform, are used in over 1,600 JD-operated warehouses and client facilities.
As JD Logistics expands globally, its solutions now serve thousands of corporate clients across dozens of countries and regions, including Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, South Korea, the United States, and throughout Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.
On October 29, JD Logistics (also known as JINGDONG Logistics) officially launched its Shenzhen-Kuala Lumpur international all-cargo route, further enhancing cross-border trade between China and Southeast Asia. The inaugural flight departed from Shenzhen, China, at 10:00 A.M. and arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at 2:00 P.M., carrying a full load of cross-border e-commerce goods.
The new route will operate two to five flights per week, improving the efficiency of the transportation of goods between China to Southeast Asia. The launch of the route represents a key milestone in JD Logistics’ efforts to establish a fully integrated supply chain in the region, offering seamless international logistics services to merchants and customers.
Since the start of JD Airlines’ international operations in 2023, its network has grown to include destinations such as South Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Bangladesh, and Thailand, strengthening JD’s footprint across Southeast Asia. JD Logistics has also established multiple self-operated warehouses throughout the region, enabling local and international brands and merchants to leverage JD Logistics’ industry-leading supply chain and logistics solutions, which provide delivery times as fast as one day in certain areas. Additionally, JD Express has expanded its services to cover seven Southeast Asian countries, ensuring local consumers can receive parcels from China with greater speed and reliability.
As part of its global expansion strategy, JD Logistics plans to double the total area of its self-operated overseas warehouses by the end of 2025 and increase the frequency of its international flights. Future plans also include continue leveraging JD Airlines’ capabilities to open long-haul routes to Europe and North America.
JD Logistics (also known as JINGDONG Logistics), the logistics arm of Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com, announced the launch of express delivery service from China to seven Southeast Asia countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Brunei.
This expansion follows the company’s recent launch of services to South Korea and Japan in September. Since launching its international express operations in late 2023, JD Express (JINGDONG Express) has rolled out two major services: “International Express” and “International Standard Express.” These services now span nearly 30 countries and regions, with the number expected to reach approximately 80 by year-end, addressing the diverse needs of both businesses and consumers.
JD Logistics is a leader in integrated supply chain services and has been driving innovation in the industry for over a decade, notably with its pioneering same- and next-day delivery services. Today, more than 90% of JD.com’s retail orders are fulfilled within 24 hours. The company employs over 300,000 in-house delivery personnel and operates more than 1,600 warehouses.
In addition to expanding its express delivery network, JD Logistics continues to extend its supply chain and warehousing capabilities to international markets. It currently operates nearly 100 bonded, direct mail, and overseas warehouses across the U.S., Germany, the Netherlands, France, the U.K., Australia, and beyond. In Southeast Asia, JD Logistics operates multiple local warehouses in Malaysia and Vietnam. In September, the company opened its second self-operated warehouse in Malaysia, a 10,000-square-meter facility providing B2B and B2C warehousing, rapid 24-hour fulfillment, reverse logistics, omni-channel fulfilment, transportation, customs clearance, and other value-added services. This warehouse has also been LEED-certified as a Green Building.
Earlier this year, JD Logistics announced plans to double its overseas warehouse capacity by 2025 as part of its broader global supply chain strategy. This expansion reflects JD Logistics’ commitment to meeting the growing demand for cross-border logistics solutions. With its continued focus on reliability, efficiency, and innovation, JD Express International remains a trusted partner in global shipping, offering seamless and dependable logistics solutions for customers worldwide.
